Clinton gets
Hispanic Vote
PHOENIX
(By Jon Garrido, Hispanic News) February
5, 2008 The results of preliminary
exit polls featured several states,
including California and Arizona, with
large Hispanic populations and Hispanics
selected Hillary Clinton by smaller but
consistent margins.
Barak
Obama attracted support of two-thirds to
nine-tenths of black voters, except in
Clinton's home state of New York. That
pattern suggests the first-term Illinois
senator's strong appeal among African
Americans first on display in the
South Carolina primary last month is
more widespread. It also means Clinton
is not the automatic heir to the wide
popularity her husband enjoyed among
black voters as president.
Except
in Obama's home state of Illinois,
Clinton was the clear favorite among
Hispanics, many of whom have felt an
allegiance to the Clintons since her
husband was in the White House.
There
is a real affection for the Clinton
administration and a real familiarity
with Senator Clinton. In addition,
Clinton got support of the Hispanic
political establishment quite early,
some of whom worked for her husband.
The
legacy of Bill Clinton's administration
was evident in yesterday's exit polls
from California, where Clinton beat
Obama among Hispanics by 2 to 1. Many
voters voted for Clinton because of name
support.
Without
black voters, the Hispanic vote becomes
crucial to victory if Clinton is to win
the Democratic nomination.
Even
more significant, Hispanic voters can
give Clinton the White House by exposing
the flip flop of John McCain as he
waffled from initially supporting
comprehensive immigration reform and
then turning his back on comprehensive
immigration reform in 2007. Most notable
is McCain was on the senate floor to
vote for a judicial appointment to a
federal court just prior to the vote on
the Dream Act and mysteriously
disappeared before the vote on the Dream
Act took place thus contributing to
defeat of the Dream Act.
By
disappearing before the Dream Act vote,
McCain did not jeopardize offending
Republican constituents who are opposed
to comprehensive immigration reform.
Obviously, voting against the Dream Act
would have exposed McCain's lust to win
the Republican nomination at the expense
of Hispanic college students.
Therefore, Hispanic voters will provide
the margin of victory in key states
electing the next president of the
United States Hillary Clinton.
The
support of Hillary Clinton is vital to
the passage of comprehensive immigration
reform in 2009 with the added bonus
Hillary Clinton includes the
undocumented in her universal health
care coverage whereas, Obama does not.
Hispanic News as the number one Hispanic
website at Google, Yahoo and MSN, will
promote election of Hillary Clinton as
President of the United States. Last
week, Hispanic News contacted the
national Hillary Clinton for President
campaign election center in Arlington,
Virginia to endorse and to work for
Clintons campaign.
